Customers asked for a warm winter sweater with a lower neckline.
The Corporal Crew is our very soft, very warm and very reassuring answer.
Knitted in thick 6 ply Loro Piana cashmere on a 5 gauge machine in London, we tested the prototype last winter and it kept us cosy and warm in all weathers.
The Corporal Crew has wide asymmetric hems, sitting lower at the back, a short split to each seam and contrasting bands of colour at the bottom of the hem both front and back. Somewhere between a crew and turtle-neck, the neckline is softly-ribbed and easy to wear.
The two stripes to the left arm give the Corporal Crew its name. They are a reference to the corporal's chevrons worn by my grandmother Aethel's older brother, Victor Howe, a professional soldier who fought through the First World War and, remarkably, survived.
